THAI YOGA

Thai Yoga Therapy includes, in addition to a lot of pressure work on the energy lines, a lot of passive postures in which I open, stretch, and relieve pressure in your body. Instead of basically lying in one of two positions the whole time, the recipient is fluidly moving from one position to the next, yet letting me do all the work while sinking into a meditative state. And since it is holistically inspired, it is very healing as well as relaxing and blissful.
For example, in yoga, one does self initiated twists. In thai yoga therapy, I move the body in the same motion of a normal twist with the recipient lying on his or her back. I do quadricep, groin, neck, hip and shoulder stretches/openers in this very same fashion. The whole time, the client is lying down relaxed and progressing deeper into a meditative state.
I am also able to do a lot of postures which are not possible during yoga….like lifting up the lower half of the body in a way that completely relieves pressure in the lower back and allows a delicious release of any back tension that one may be holding.
The therapy also incorporates ayurvedic principles in order to balance the constitution, thereby allowing the individual to reclaim a more energetic state of being, as well as experience greater clarity and awareness and lessened presence of any dis-ease.
